Keeping an elderly loved one at home for as long as possible is a goal that many of us share. Giving caregivers some much needed time to work or run errands while being assured that your loved one is safe and well cared for is where Levindale Adult Day Services comes in.
Our Adult Day Services are designed especially for physically frail individuals with special medical needs such as diabetes, hypertension and post-stroke disabilities, and those with mental health problems such as dementia, confusion and Alzheimer's disease. We strive to be an extension of your home environment with caring, personalized service.
We provide to you, the caregivers:
- A respite from 24 hour responsibility
- An alternative to expensive in-home care
- The ability to keep your loved one at home longer
- The assurance your loved one receives needed nursing, medical and social care.
An Individualized Care Plan
Participants have their own comprehensive, coordinated treatment plans, developed in consultation with the their own private doctors. Nursing services, medical supervision, rehabilitation services and social services can all be coordinated. Special care is available for both physically handicapped and mentally impaired clients.
Professional nursing is a strong component of this program. All medication is supervised, and is provided to help maintain diabetic compliance. Vital signs, such as blood pressure, are monitored. In addition, treatments are performed and many other nursing services are available. Personal assistance, including bathing and toileting, is given to participants as needed.
Rehabilitation services are provided on-site by Levindale’s rehabilitation department. Participants are also fortunate to have the access to medical support from Sinai Hospital and Northwest Hospital. They, along with Levindale, are all part of LifeBridge Health, one of the largest health care providers in Northwest Baltimore.
Additionally, Levindale’s Adult Day Services staff can schedule and provide transportation to physician and other therapeutic appointments.
A Full Recreation Program
Well-trained activity specialists lead dynamic activities programs. Arts and crafts, intergenerational programs, music, cooking classes, exercise sessions, movies, discussion groups, live entertainment and trips into the community suit each participant's special interests.
The activities program is designed to provide a high degree of socialization and encourage friendships. A stimulating and fun-filled environment provides the best quality of life possible for Levindale Adult Day Services participants.
Kosher Meals Served
A highlight of the day is mealtime. Nutritious, tasty, kosher meals are served daily including a light breakfast, hot lunch and afternoon snack. Special meals are prepared for holidays. Holidays are always very festive occasions at Levindale Adult Day Services. Assistance with feeding is provided as needed, and special dietary requirements can be accommodated.
