Offering Advanced Solutions for Difficult Joint Problems and Arthritis
The Center for Joint Preservation and Replacement is a nationally recognized, multidisciplinary orthopedic institution for the comprehensive treatment of hip, knee and shoulder arthritis. Annually, thousands of patients receive advanced non-operative and operative care for their arthritic joints, as well as all types of painful joint disorders and injuries.
Some of the most common indications for joint replacement are
osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and osteonecrosis. The common
characteristic of all these diseases is the eventual destruction of
joint cartilage. When this cartilage wears away, the result is a painful
joint. If the condition is severe enough, these joints need to be
replaced.
At the Center, conservative methods are used to preserve the natural function of the joint and increase its longevity. Such treatments include physical therapy, medication, injections, and state-of-the-art gait analysis. When conservative methods prove ineffective, the most advanced surgical techniques are implemented. The Center for Joint Preservation and Replacement is part of the Rubin Institute for Advanced Orthopedics at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. Sinai Hospital leads the state of Maryland in the number of orthopedic admissions.
